How unusual to discover a small community of 30,000 people, that spans 25 miles along the breathtaking Pacific.
What's more unusual is that Half Moon Bay is just a short distance from both San Francisco and Silicon Valley.
The communities of Half Moon Bay are very small and each have their own distinct personalities.
They are (from north to south) Montara, Moss Beach, El Granada, Half Moon Bay, San Gregorio, La Honda and Pescadero.
| What To Do |
We have miles of bike and horse trails by the ocean.
We also have miles of bike and horse trails through the mountains.
There is a large commercial fishing harbor.
We have many beautiful state parks where you can walk through towering redwoods or watch elephant seals.
Flowers and farming are big businesses. You'll see huge fields of artichokes and pumpkins up and down the coast.
Of course, there is our annual Pumpkin Festival, which attracts national attention.
For the golfer, there are two challenging courses on the ocean.
And if you like surfing, there's the world famous Mavericks beach, where waves rise as high as 30 feet in the winter, and where Great White Sharks breed in anticipation of a surfer delicacy!
A further word about surfing:
If you carefully look down and to the right of the center-most
fin of this family of Great Whites,
you will see several beachgoers.
